Mule Creek is a historical Texas ranch that was
established in the 1880’s. The Ranch consists of
about 11,313 acres, broken into five main pastures:
The Vat, East Mule, West Mule, Caballos, and the Henio.
The terrain is non-typical for South Texas, from flat hills to cuts.
Some areas of the ranch have been worked through the years so
the bush varies in age.
Mule Creek Ranch has been on a protein
feeding program for the past nine years, which has dramatically
improved our Whitetail Deer Hear. We currently have 21 feeding
stations scattered around the ranch.
Our Trophy Whitetail Buck
program starts at 150 inch Boone and Crockett with no Trophies
being taken under six and a half years of age. Our highest scoring
season buck in the last five years is 173 inch B&C score with quite
a few bucks in the 150” to 160” class.
The 2009 deer count showed
one deer per 17.25 acres with a Doe to Buck ratio of 1.05,
considered close to ideal. The highest count for our bucks were
in the four and a half to five and a half age range. |
